Kate Corby is an American choreographer, performer and teacher and currently a Masters student, teacher and fellow at the University of Illinois. Since she began choreographing in 1997, Kate has presented work in Wisconsin, California, Illinois, Toronto and Taiwan. With support from the Fulbright program, Kate will be in Budapest until January 2007 carrying out choreographic research and teaching modern technique at the Hungarian Dance Academy. Prior to graduate school, Kate was a San Francisco, California-based choreographer and dancer and established her company, Kate Corby & Dancers, in 2001. The company performed in numerous San Francisco venues, including three self-produced annual seasons, was named Critic's Choice by Rita Felciano of the San Francisco Bay Guardian, and received grant support
from the following private foundations: the Zellerbach Family Foundation, CA$H of Theatre Bay Area and Meet the Composer.
