nora stephens is a multi-city based artist currently living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was born in DublĂn, Ireland, as a child moved to Boston, MA and most recently has been living in Brooklyn, NY and Mexico City, Mexico. Her dance works have been presented in NYC at the 92nd St. Y, The Brooklyn Museum, in DancenOw/NYC, at Movement Research at the Judson Chuch, Dixon Place, Mulberry Street Theatre, Dance SpaceCenter (now DNA), Construction Company, Chashama and AUNTS at BS248 among other venues. Nationally, her dances have been performed in Boston, MA., Mt. Tremper, NY and Madison, WI and internationally at Los Talleres and the UNAM in Mexico City, Mexico, the WUK and Saprophyt Gallery both in Vienna, Austria. She has had the fortune of performing with other choreographers and artists such as Rebecca Davis, Juliette Mapp, Beth Soll, Mandy Morrison and most recently with Deborah Hazler and Lyndsey Karr.
Stephens video works have been screened/ installed at the Brooklyn Public Library and at AUNTS at BS248 in Brooklyn, NY, the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC, Le Quinto Festival Internacional de Video Danza in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Garrison Art Center in Garrison, NY and at CS 848 in San Francisco, CA.
In 2000, Stephens received her BS in Dance with a Certificate in InterArts and Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and in 2008 she completed her MFA in Dance as part of the the Hollins University/ American Dance Festival program.
